idlepassage:

This would be my entry for NOWNESS’s Drawing inspiration: Murakami contest.

My entry was based on Kafka on the Shore, particularly in regards to the book’s theme of the connection between inner and outer and the nature of labyrinths.

If, for some reason, you really like my entry (or me) you can vote for me here. You’ve got to join NOWNESS to vote, but joining doesn’t take all that long and NOWNESS has some cool articles / interviews.

I love Kafka on the Shore so much.

“Why do people have to be this lonely? What’s the point of it all? Millions of people in this world, all of them yearning, looking to others to satisfy them, yet isolating themselves. Why? Was the earth put here just to nourish human loneliness?”

Haruki Murakami, Sputnik Sweetheart (via rosettes)

“A spider had no special skill other than building its web, and no lifestyle choice other than sitting still. It would stay in one place waiting for its prey until, in the natural course of things, it shriveled up and died. This was all genetically predetermined. The spider had no confusion, no despair, no regrets. No metaphysical doubts, no moral complications. Probably.”

“Reality is endlessly cold and lonely.”

Waiting has been so hard.

“Closing your eyes isn’t going to change anything. Nothing’s going to disappear just because you can’t see what’s going on. In fact, things will be even worse the next time you open your eyes. That’s the kind of world we live in, Mr. Nakata. Keep your eyes wide open. Only a coward closes his eyes. Closing your eyes and plugging up your ears won’t make time stand still.”
